My Career
Jennifer Kilberg's unique insight into the photo industry is a result of her extensive experience and understanding of all aspects of photography. With over 10 years in the business, she is a driving force in the photo community, consulting photographers on portfolio and marketing development, producing shoots, and teaching photography
Her rare combination of experience and enthusiasm infuses every project with a sense of confidence. Jennifer’s focused approach to all creative assignments results in a positive experience that always exceeds expectations. With a refreshing upbeat energy, she turns challenges into workable solutions.
Before becoming a freelance consultant, Jennifer worked at NBC/Universal Television's SCI FI Channel as a photo editor. She produced and hired photographers for all of the channel's photo shoots, providing the marketing, advertising and publicity departments
with key images for all movies and series. While at SCI FI, she had the opportunity to hire and work with top photographers including Mary Ellen Mark and David La Chappelle, among others. Her television and film experience adds yet another facet to Jennifer's ability to help photographers understand what it takes to work in those markets.
As a professional photographer, Jennifer was hired by the Chinese National Tourist Office to photograph various destinations for their marketing materials. She began her career with independent photography projects that took her throughout Southeast Asia, Papua New Guinea, Africa, and India.
Jennifer also learned the technical side of the business by working as an account executive for Kodak Professional, where she educated photographers, magazine staffs, photo rental studios and New York City labs on product performance, from film to digital.
Managing the post-production department of Shoot Digital in New York gave Jennifer another valuable point of view. While there, she educated art buyers, creative directors, and print producers about digital capture and post production.
While working as an account manager at American Photo and Popular Photography magazines, Jennifer gained insight into the sales and marketing side of the industry. There she developed integrated marketing programs, offering her clients turn-key solutions that maximized their exposure. Her accounts were the leading manufacturers in the photo world.
As a teacher, Jennifer has given numerous presentations and lectures on various aspects of photography to W Magazine, Parsons School of Design, FIT, ASMP, School of Visual Arts and APA.
