Well,
I arrived in Yunan Province in a town called Lijiang. After three
cups of coffee (because it is the first time I have found coffee)
mixed with the fresh air and amazing scenery, I felt like I was
jumping out of my skin. Everywhere there are photos. It is definitely
a photographer’s wet dream. I would love to have a couple
of hours to hike.
There is a mountain called Jade Dragon with peaks that are supposed
to be great. There is snow on top of the mountains. It is amazing
- the weather crisp like a perfect spring day. As a matter of fact,
the nickname for Lijiang is the “spring city.” I am
surrounded by mountain ranges and rice patty fields. The town has
old cobblestone streets and pagodas everywhere. The people are
friendly, but a bit shy to photograph. This is the first must-see
place. I would say if you ever go to China, you should experience
it here.
On a different note, I went to photograph a local market today
and saw many things I wish I had not seen. I know all countries
have different customs, but seeing a dog market was a bit hard
to accept. I hope all is well and thanks to all of you who are
responding. I have been laughing very hard at your responses and
enjoyed writing some of my adventure. It feels like I have been
away for months now. I cannot believe it has only been about a
week. I have to shower now because today while trying to get that
fab shot, I fell into a very muddy rice patty and my pants and
shoes are covered with mud. I will change out of some dirty clothes
into a bit less dirty clothes.
Love,
Jennifer
